I think that this article isn't completely accurate. Some people might have an eating disorder because of personal problems but I do still think that a lot of eating disorders are caused by the media and society. Many teenagers feel insecure about their bodies when growing up because of the influence societies opinion has on them. This causes people to stop eating or making people feel bad about eating and throwing up the food because it makes them feel good about it in the moment and they feel like they are doing good by "fitting" into societies idea of pretty. So I think some things the girl says are right but others I think are just a special case for her.

I think she may be right. I am not completely convinced that there are very little cases of anorexia that have to do with wanting to be beautiful. However, I do agree with her that people who suffer from this have something much more serious going on and it should not be treated just as “wanting to be skinnier, eat and you’ll be fine”. By telling her own experience of recovery and reasons as to why she was diagnosed with anorexia in the first place, it makes it seem much more believable that the causes for this disease can come in different ways, and it usually is more than one. This is specially since she makes emphasis on the fact that she has been going in and out of rehab centers since she was about 11 and the latest was at her 20’s. Meaning that anorexia nervosa does not just get cured by eating right for a couple of months and is much more than being super skinny; it takes skills to figure out whether or not someone suffers from it and the treatment they should get.

I don't agree with some of the things this article has to say, even though I found some of her points spot on. She clearly states that media doesn't cause eating disorders yet we see models turning anorexic just to please the media and feel good about themselves. Yes, it can be beyond that like anxiety (like she has) but it's not always that. What I did learn was the common misconceptions about anorexia I did not know about. I find it incredible how some people think it just a diet gone wrong. Of course I believe that she became anorexic because of her mental state, but this is just her case and we cannot base the entire reason of this illness on her experience. I found surprising how she survived anorexia from such a young age. I thought that was nearly impossible for a child to survive without eating since they are in a constant state of development. I have a solid opinion about anorexia and I have a overall good understanding of it, my opinion stands solid.

I don't completely agree with what the girl is saying. She said that media does not affect when media has a lot to do with eating disorders. Media is what causes people to want to be skinny all the time. They put healthy eating things or exercise on TV or magazines, and girls that watch it think that they should be like that. Although I did like she mentioned she got out of it and that she felt like she had to be skinny because people around her told her she had to be. She also said some things a lot of people go through. Also, a lot of the things she said were right. I learned more about anorexia and what happens when you go through it. Also, how the results could be deadly, but what she said about it being only a mental illness, is wrong. It can be that, but there are a lot of different ways people can become anorexic.

I learned how media most of the times is not the cause of anorexia on girls. Anorexic girls have a problem with men seeing them attractive and SEX! I don't think that is the reason, but I have no idea how this people think. So... I have not much to say. While I was reading the article I felt really bad for the people who suffer this illness. They are unable to experience how it feels to be happy, confident, secure and to live a normal life. I have been worried about my physical appearance and it is the worst feeling ever! This article has changed my way of seeing how anorexic people think and what they do. Before reading the article I would of swore that media and society had the fault for the suffering this girls go through. But now I know that if the throw up and deprive themselves from eating is because they have a personal issue, a mental problem. Anorexia is an actual illness. And girls are the ones that suffer it the most. From now on i will be careful with people who suffer this illness as I am concerned about how much they suffer and how hard is going to be for them to be normal again.

I think there are many things that can cause eating disorders. In her case it was her low self esteem and that she matured at a young age. I think it is very sad and it is a very serious problem. I now understand better what it is. It is seriously a mental problem not a lifestyle. It is a disease like any other and it is very serious. I still think that many girls fall into eating disorders because of the media, the pressure to be thin and the fashion world of models. It was really sad that she even had to have a tube put into her nose because she just refused to eat. Many girls suffer from this and I think there should be more campaigns made to help these girls, and also raise awareness.

I consider this article can have a huge impact on the people who read it because it shows you the reality behind anorexia and how it is a disease that is very common now a days. Reading this article made me feel curious and wonder why so many girls have such a huge problem with their image. I know accepting yourself is difficult but why are there so many people that starve themselves. Before I use to think that girls with anorexia had just a lack of confidence and desired to be skinny, but now I know that its not just that its the fact that they starve themselves because of a certain perspective of themselves and how the see themselves compared to others. The story of this woman made me reflect and it motivated me to not do the same. Her story made me feel sad for the people who are facing these image problems but it also made me think that thankfully their are solutions for these cases. People should help others around the world by preventing anorexia.

I didn't really learn much from this article. However it was really interesting to see how this girl overcame anorexia and why she decided to be one in first place. However, I don't agree with her in saying that media doesn't cause some people to become anorexic, since there are people that are because of it. But also, she should consider that here are thousands of other reasons as to why someone can become anorexic. It surprised me anyways hat she decided to become one because she didn't want to be attractive to boys. I've never really heard of that case before, and it made me feel curious and made me want to investigate more about it.
