Static Electricity Demos

As a class you will do several different experiments demonstrating static electricity. Each of you will choose a different experiment to comment on below. For your chosen experiment answer the following questions:
1. Briefly describe the experiment.
2. Did it work? How do you know? If not, why not?
3. Explain how this experiment works using your knowledge of static electricity.
4. Without using the materials from the kit, demonstrate the effects of static electricity and describe your demonstration.

Answer all questions using your own words and using as much detail as possible. This is an alternative assessment, you will be assessed on your participation & focus and your on the accuracy and thoroughness of your response.

Watch the TedEd & NASA (Real Life) videos on Work, Energy & Power. 
Answer the following questions, using the information from the videos. 
  1. Define "Work" in Physics. Include in your definition a formula, explanation and examples situations in which work is done and others when work is NOT done.
  2. How does Work relate to Energy?
  3. Explain the difference between Potential and Kinetic Energy. In your explanation include formulas and examples that are NOT mentioned in the video.
  4. There are 3 types of Potential Energy. Only one was mentioned in the NASA video. Name the one given and try to determine what the other two could be.
  5. Define "Power" in Physics. Include in your definition a formula, explanation and an example illustrating Power that was not mentioned in the video.
